Goldcoin is Free Software and any person or developer can contribute to the project. The network is completely decentralized and distributed.

The project is maintained by an International community of dedicated pioneers who firmly believe in the mission of providing economic freedom to all people.

Treasury

In August of 2026, one billion GLC was locked on-chain across two hundred 5 million GLC tranches. This is designed to give the project 200 years of funding runway.

Multichain Design

Goldcoin started in 2013 as a single-chain proof of work cryptocurrency. In 2026, we began to launch GLC unto modern DEX rails.

Currently, GLC is available on L1, Solana, and Robinhood chains with many more to come. We believe utility increases as availability increases.

We also have a community memecoin available on Solana. This coin is our most popular L2 coin and is used to fund contests, bounties, and project development.

Bullet Proof Architecture

Goldcoin is not one chain. It runs natively on its own proof of work Layer 1 and as an independently issued coin on other chains, with no peg holding them together.

Each market stands on its own.

Take one down and the others keep trading. You would have to destroy the entire earth to end GLC as a currency.

Most coins are one blockchain away from ceasing to exist. Goldcoin isn't.

Development

Everything you need is in the GitHub repository. Please make sure to read and follow the development process described in the README, as well as to provide good quality code and respect all guidelines.

Development discussion takes place on GitHub and the Discord. Less formal development discussion happens on Telegram.

Code Review

Goldcoin Core is security software that helps protect assets worth millions of dollars, so every code change needs to be reviewed by experienced developers.

It can take a long time for other developers to review your pull requests. Remember that all reviewers are taking time away from their own projects to review your pull requests, so be patient and respectful of their time.

Please also consider helping to review other people’s pull requests. You don’t need to be an expert in Goldcoin, the Goldcoin Core codebase, or C++ (although all these things help). There are generally open pull requests that any programmer can review.

Starter Projects

Do you want to begin coding for Goldcoin Core but don’t have a specific improvement in mind? Here are a few ideas:

  • Fix existing issues: the issue tracker is the best place to find a useful way to contribute to Goldcoin Core. Before starting to write any patches for issues you find, you may want to comment on the issue to make sure nobody else is already working on it.

  • Write tests: Goldcoin Core is covered by many tests, but patches that improve test coverage are always welcome and are a great way to build familiarity with the codebase. See the documentation about automated testing.
